Monsters of the Heart

Chapter 1: Why?

"I love you." why couldn't Satin have said the words before.

She wanted nothing more than to scream them at the top of her lungs.

More so now than ever as she watched Tea gracefull trot down to the aliter.

Tea, her stunning best friend, her short fluffy pastel green hair lined with roses that curled around her delicate ram horns.

Her white dress, highlighting her gingerbread skin, blossoming into a train of vivid flowers that trailed along behind her.

Tea had grown all the flowers herself in the year leading up to the happiest moment of her life.

The worse moment of Satin's life thus far.

Satin's guts flipped as she watched Tea reach her prize.

Ribbon.

Ribbon was the most elegant centaur Satin had ever met, she was perfect in every way.

Her stunning blond hair curled in buns along her neck running down her long centaur body. Her dress stopping short of her braided tail that was still long enough to touch the floor.

Satin took a breath, she wanted to cover her ears, to not hear the sweet words that were exchanged between the pair.

She felt sick as the rings where revealed.

Then placed.

Then her life was over.

They were married.

"I love you," Satin whispered to herself as tears slowly ran down her cheeks.

Writer. Artist. Fearless.

Writer. Artist. Fearless.

I am a 31 year old creator who has been passionate about writing and art since I could barely hold a pencil.
Born in New York City, I moved to Miami Florida when I was three. My father wrote for soap operas, including All My Children and Guiding Light, for many years. Sitting down in front of a computer to type for six to ten hours seemed perfectly normal as a child.
I was also exposed to a huge variety of cultures because my parents opened the Pelican Playhouse, a theater company in a little city called Miami Springs. It was my creative playground from age 10 onward. My love for the arts has only grown with me. In 2008, I embarked for MCAD (Minneapolis College of Art and Design) only to complete the four year art school in three years.
Once that was done, it was on to more book writing and I haven’t stopped since.

I run #bookfragments on twitter and have been enjoying it immensely.

Book Review: Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Book Review : Cinder By Marissa Meyer

I’m sure many people have already done this, for this book. This is my first entry in a blog I hope to continue with each new book I devour.

Cinder is elegant and stunningly visual. This book has stolen my heart in so many places I’m not sure what to do with my self.

It has been a long time since I’ve felt this way about a book. Since I’ve found myself thinking about the characters and trying to decide if I should put down my own writing and pick up the pages again.

I felt so connected so quickly to Cinder, even if the first issue presented wasn’t so big in my own life. She couldn’t go to a ball. I’m not a “girly” girl, and I don’t think Cinder is much of one either. That was why I feel in love with her. Because I felt she was like me.

I finally got the end of this book. I won’t tell you how it ends. Just know if you like this book at the beginning buy the other book! Don’t be me. Me who was so tired I could hardly see as I drove in a blizzard to a book store that had ten minutes till close to buy the other book.

            Don’t be me.

More Fun stories to come. If you have a book you'd like me to read, send it my way! Please include the title author and the first book in the series (if it is a series).

Thanks for reading.

Blog 2: Finding time to do what you do.

Blog 2: Finding time to do what you do.

Being both an artist and a writer has its perks, however. I have a hard time someday doing it all. I’m a pro now at time managing my self, work, and side projects. It’s the things life surprises me with that I sometimes have to fit in.

For example, I live in Minnesota, the great land of snow, ice and road construction. It takes me ten minutes to get from my house to the Starbucks where I work on average unless I have to creep along at 20 miles and hour. Then it takes anywhere from 25-35 minutes some times more.

That doesn’t seem like a whole lot of time, right. But if you think about it that is that much more time I could be writing.

Now I’m not saying you have to write every single second of the day. Even if some people do, or try. I for one can’t. It just doesn’t work like that for me. I’ve had professors who can write for eight hours straight. My time spend is more like three to four hours.

So if I want to write like that in short few hours bursts, I have to plan the heck out of my days and some times even week. I work a full time job, which is great cause it pays the bills. But as all of us know as writers and artists, that’s not what makes you happy. Creating makes you happy.

So, lets go over how to juggle your life version your creating. This is going to be really different for everyone.

The first ting you need to find out is went you work the best.

What does that even mean? It’s pretty simple to figure out. It’s easier if you have a job honestly. As you go thru the day think about when you are the most awake. When do you feel like you get the most done!

It’s going to be different for everyone. My best writing and time is between 6am-10am. Yes, I move long before the sun is up. That might be you it might not. Many of the people I know, love the deep dark night to disappear in to there work.

A lot of people do. However, your time might be at 2pm in the afternoon. And your at work! Hopefully you get a day off (at the very least) if not try writing or working on your lunch hour. As you shove food in to your mouth try to at least write a plot line down on a sticky note.

Every little steps counts in this.

So if you can pinpoint that time in the day you work the best, try to at least get thirty minutes in if possible. If not shoot for ten.

Happy working everyone, you are all amazing artists. Don’t ever stop.

Obligatory Intro: Welcome and hello.

This is the first time i'm going to try and keep one of theses running.

Hello and welcome.

My name is Elary Jones Wakefield and i'm an aspiring writer. I've been so hesitant to start my own blog because of several reasons. One of the main one is because i'm dyslectic, so forgive me if my spelling is off. Or you find a very strange word in place of something else.

PS. if you do please let me know. I don't take offense.

My other reason was, I don't really know what to write about. I tend to be secretive with my own writing. So I've decide to try and do book reviews. I'm going to talk about tea, food, cats ect.

This blog is going to be for all my writing, reading and joys in life.

Thanks for reading, My first book Review will be coming out on the 16th. Enjoy.
